POSITION:  ACTIVATION ASSISTANT

TYPE OF POSITION :  TEMPORARY (1- 3 MONTHS )

SHIFTS PER WEEK:     3

AVAILABILITY:  DAYS, EVENING, WEEKENDS, HOLIDAYS

RESPONSIBLITILITES

  • Participate in the scheduling of activities, ensuring a wide range of programs to meet the resident’s physical, social, emotional, intellectual and spiritual needs.
  • Development and implementation of activities
  • Maintain program and resident records according to department policy.   Perform other related duties as required or delegated by the Program/Volunteer Manager
  • Assist in volunteer coordination e.g student orientation
  • Excellent attendance record.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Proof of successful completion or enrolled in such a program of an approved Activation/Gerontology or Social Service Worker Diploma or Degree program.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, organizational and interpersonal skills
  • Proven ability to work within  a team
  • Demonstrated competency in the use of computers
  • Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and ability to manage time effectively

Start Rate:   As per Collective agreement

MARIANN HOME DIETARY SERVICES

POSITION AVAILABLE:
COOK Part-Time 2 shifts a week with options for more.
(shifts – 6:30AM to 2:30PM and 10:00AM to 6:00PM)
POSITION SUMMARY:
Responsible for optimal food preparation to residents based on legislative requirements and Mariann Home standards.
QUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Certified as a Red Seal Chef, Cook or Journeyman.
Must have a current Food Handler Certification (Proton).
Must be able to read, write and accurately follow written and verbal instructions.
Must have experience in large quantity food preparation, preferably in health care or LTC setting.
Demonstrate the ability to work with seniors within Mariann Home’s Mission and Philosophy statement.
Must have a working knowledge of Canadas Food Guide to Healthy Eating, special and therapeutic diets.
Must have knowledge of quality improvement related programs and the ability to prepare statistical reports.
Must have basic computer skills with the ability to learn and operate dietary services software.
Must be willing to upgrade skills as required.
Must be familiar with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and the regulations that apply to this type of work.
Must be physically able to lift and transfer heavy items, hot items and stand for the majority of the shift.
Must be able to work quickly, precisely, accurately and safely.
Must possess leadership abilities and be able to direct the department in the absence of the Dietary Services Manager.
